The Iraqi Red Crescent Society continues its relief operations for villages that besieged by flood in Diyala Governorate

The heavy wave of rain that fell during the past few days in Diyala has made a big damage in the bordering villages with Iran as well as the camps of displaced people. The floods also caused destroying a number of villages and farms adding to besieged a number of people as a result of roads interruption.
Haider Ahmed, the manager of media-Iraqi Red Crescent/Diyala branch said “Our relief teams were managed to delivery relief, food, health materials and blankets to more than 350 families who were trapped by floods in Qazania and Daliabbas districts, our teams have also distribute food to more than 1600 displaced families in camps of (Khanaqen, Al-Khalis, Baqubah, Balad Ruz and Muqdadiyah”
He also said “Iraqi Red Crescents’ teams are still going so far to relief the affected families, as well as to use the Red Crescents’ mechanisms to open alternative roads because of the destruction of the main roads by floods, and the flow of torrents water to border villages in Qazania and Mandely districts may cause shoveling thousands of mines and projectiles for long distances inside the villages and farmland, thus, the Iraqi Red Crescents’ teams in Diyala has gave awareness campaign regarding mines and projectiles, adding to distribute folders about awareness of the remnants of war”.
It is worthy to be mentioned that the border areas between Iraq and Iran in particular Badrah, Zurbatiah and Mandely areas are often witness flow coming from the Iranian highlands in winter when heavy rains happened in the border areas, while the Iraqi Red Crescent has carried out many of air-relief operations during the previous years.
