Through its Humanitarian Principle, Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS) works to provide services to the most vulnerable groups in society, IRCS operates through its engineering sections on installing (RO) stations in all Iraqi governorates, as this projects considered as one of the humanitarian projects which contribute to eliminate the transmitted diseases through water. It is often targeted the remote areas from the centers of governorates because of the fact that drinking water could not be reaches for such areas.
The engineering teams of IRCS installs plants (RO) stations in a number of governorates which had remote villages that suffering from scarcity of drinking water. 4 stations installed in villages at Baghdad, while the other 4 stations where in the villages of (Al-J’arra, Al-Amima, Al-Shhakhat and Al-Wardia) that can produce (24,000 liters/day) in which the number of its beneficiaries were more than 10000 persons. It is worthy to be mentioned that these stations are working for 12 hours per day as a result to increase citizen’s demand for water, especially in the summer time.
In Babylon governorate, 6 (RO) stations were installed and being spread over a number of remote villages from the center of governorate in the areas (Rashd Al-Hamad, Al-jalgam village, Jabalah districts, Al-Shomaley districts, Al-Gawam area and Al-Musaiab), these stations produce (84,000 liters/day) as the number of beneficiaries were more than 22000 persons, these stations are working for 12 hours per day.
But in Wasit governorate, 3 (RO) stations were installed in areas (Al-Makasib villages, Jassan distrect and Al-Fida’a village) which can produce (36,000 liters/day) as the number of beneficiaries were more than 6000 persons.
On the other hand, IRCS works to develop future plans to in order to install (RO) stations in the villages of the governorates in (Diwaniyah, Maisan, Najaf, Karbala, Muthanna, Diyala, Kirkuk and Al-Anbar) as this projects considered as one of the humanitarian projects which serve our communities and contribute to eliminate spreading of diseases and epidemics which transmitted through contaminated water.
